  •  Reid should resign leadership. (5+ / 0-)

This is what happens when you have a purple state Senator as leader.

Look at GOP leadership - McConnell, Cornyn - they are both up for re-election in 2014 and are only worried about primary challengers, so are tacking hard right and taking Reid's lunch money.

Reid almost lost to Sharon Angle for crissakes.  How about we get some leadership who doesn't have to worry about losing their seats and get rid of the wormy Reid.

    •  I can understand your ire if Reid (0+ / 0-)

was one of the handful of Democratic senators blocking the change. But was he?  From this diary:

All but a handful of Senate Democrats supported the reform plan, but the opposition of those senators killed the effort.

Seems kinda doubtful, since he was the one who was proposing changing the rules. If he can't find 49 other Dems who will vote for his rule changes, get mad at those few who balked, not at Harry.

      •  He owns it. Merkley said he has 51... (3+ / 0-)

Reid should have called a vote.  He didn't.  Now did he not call a vote to protect those who didn't want any change - I don't care.  Allow the vote and let's see who the snakes are.  Since he didn't - it's him.

        •  I read conflicting things (0+ / 0-)

about whether there were 51 votes or not. I don't see the point of putting something like this to a vote unless you have the votes to win.

Snakes they may well be, but their our snakes. And airing our dirty linen in public isn't smart politics.
