... well not exactly Mars, but an Earth-based Martian analog. A dozen years ago I served a two week stint at the Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS) in southern Utah. It was essentially a simulation of a Mars habitat and we would actually do EVAs with simulation spacesuits on simulation rovers (ATVs). Nearby the hab there was a spot with some incredible ventrifacts which took quite amazing forms. I can imagine Mars winds and sands are capable of producing some pretty weird stuff. One of the reasons I'd jump at the chance to join a real mission, but they're not likely to select me when I'm a doddering 80 yr old by then - and that's assuming we go in just another 24 years. Jesus am I that old already?
