    in Lesotho, Zambia or South Africa last month.

    All it is is a translation of your pertinent driver's license information into six or so different languages.  I have one because it was required in Qatar (one of the languages on it being Arabic).  It's a good idea to have, even if not required, if the country you are visiting has a primary language different than that on your license...could make things a lot easier if you are stopped.

    It takes a special kind of stupid, however, to mandate it regardless of the language on the visitor's license.  There's nothing additional on there.

    (an aside - not long after we entered Lesotho we were pulled over by the police at a normal roadblock.  The officer asked where we were from -he was surprised when we said the US as it's more than a bit off the beaten track for American travellers - but he immediately grinned and said "Ah!  Obamaland!")
