  •  Don't hate me, but my 1970's started with.... (0+ / 0-)

Hey, I was 13 - what else is a 13 year old girl to do when SQUEEEEEE!!!  David Cassidy SQUEEEEE!!!!! is around?

LOL!  Actually, I saw him in concert here a few years ago, he was good, still able to get mobbed by a bunch of 50 year old women waving their Partridge Family LPs.  LOL!

I wasn't allowed to listen to "hippie music" when I was a kid.  You really want to be sick?

My dad was flight crew for National Airlines and he was at work when some long-haired guys from England landed in Miami.  They were going to be on the Ed Sullivan Show again (had previously been on a week earlier in NYC).  It was 49 years ago this week.

He got to meet them (along with a bunch of really excited stewardesses from his crew) and when Rick Shaw, the DJ from WQAM offered autographed copies of their album to the flight crew people who were there, my dad TURNED HIM DOWN!!!  ARRGGGHHHH!!!  I was only 6 (almost 7, it was right before my birthday).  I could have had an autographed Beatles LP?!?!?  My dad said he told "that DJ guy" that "My little girl is too young to listen to these crazy long-haired hippies."

So forgive me for the Partridge Family, I had a deprived
    childhood - rock 'n roll-wise, anyway!
