  •  McCain also objected to Hagel's (9+ / 0-)

support for talking to Iran instead of lobbing bombs into Tehran.  He also objected to some of Hagel's remarks expressing concern for the plight of Palestinians.  He also was "deeply troubled" by Hagel's remarks (which most D.C. politicians and half the Israeli parliament agree with) that AIPAC exhibits an "unwavering pro-Likud approach to Israel.”

McCain has a lot of reasons (excuses) for filibustering Hagel's confirmation vote, which he expresses at different times during any one day.  But the biggest is that it gets attention and guarantees he will be invited to appear on  TV as often as possible.

"In this world of sin and sorrow there is always something to be thankful for; as for me, I rejoice that I am not a Republican." - H. L. Mencken
