  •  you did the wrong thing sir (4+ / 0-)

Absolutely never talk with the police without an attorney present.  If you cannot afford an attorney do not talk with them.  Dont be rude but just tell them politely you wish to remain silent  and dont wish to speak to them.

You seem like a nice guy but you violated the golden rule.  When police ask questions do not answer without a lawyer.

I was there and you weren't. Sometimes you really really have nothing to hide, and I've at this for a long time. Choosing not to talk to the police is often the right thing - but not always.

When the police talk to you its usually for business...the business of getting you in trouble.  They are trying to gather evidence...evidence against you.  Its up to you whether you want to talk or not.  If its me Im not saying a word.  Im not going to volunteer to come to their station and I wont give them information.  If they want to arrest me so be it but I wont help them with their investigation.  They will not be using my words against me because they will not hear them.  All they will get is silence on my end.

You should never talk to the police no matter how little you have to hide.
