are just part of it, including an entire right wing media machine, and a corporate offensive that has been ongoing since Reagan fired the Air Traffic controllers.

A steady stream of laws weakening labor and strengthening abusive companies - not to mention the decimation of the core manufacturing base, again by laws favorable to corporations over American labor.

The black eyes labor received over the years for being associated with organized crime didn't help either.

Traditional labor unions have been looking to survive as their own political entities, and lost the message of labor solidarity.

These things will only change when a majority of the workforce find the will to challenge and change this status quo, such as with walmart in recent years. Electing more pro labor leaders - and at every political level is necessary as well.

Union history is fraught with blood and violence, but it more effective to win hearts and minds - starting by calling out each and every pro corporate and anti union slanted news story and article in the media.

If not us ... who? If not here ... where? If not now ... when?

to make my community understand the relevance of progressive ideals. I'll remember what you've said.
