  •  Yup. I love it when they miscalculate (9+ / 0-)

like that. Something they're doing with more and more frequency.

and thinking only of near-term consequences. Forget eleven-dimensional chess, these guys can't even think past the next move.

Or maybe they really do just sit around in their K Street offices saying to each other, "Yeah, let's oppose Elizabeth Warren for CFPB chairman. No way that could possibly backfire on us."

Steal a trillion, too big to fail. Steal a thousand, go to jail.

      •  That's what these "think tanks" get paid (4+ / 0-)

the big bucks to do... Sit around and come up with the best strategy for remaining completely clueless.

They're so clueless that "Death Tax" worked to enable the filthy rich to become ever so richer.

Clueless enough that they've forestall putting into place meaningful climate-related legislation.

          Etc ...

What you describe is clueless. Because it will bite them in the ass. All these fuckers are gonna be out of jobs once the Republican party becomes so marginalized that no one votes them back into office.

It will happen eventually. You can't maintain a strategy of pissing off every group of people other than those rich folks you describe and expect to be rewarded for it.

Sure, people are still voting against their best interests, only because they haven't all woken up yet. It's only a matter of time and diligence on our part to help it along.

            •  How long? (0+ / 0-)

And how much reckless endangerment by them creating damage for all of this.

This sanguine 'don't worry, be happy, they'll fail in the end' doesn't work well for me considering just how serious the damage is in the interim.

And, these paid-off "think tanks" have radically shifted the Overton Window to the right over the past 30 years to have the US political dialogue over-balanced to the right.
