  •  I totally agree with you!! (5+ / 0-)

This legislation was never about health CARE. It was always about INSURANCE. Should insurance exist? Of course. But we should not be forced to buy it. If we can't have single payer. then just have people decide if they want to private insurance and not be taxed, or be taxed and use federal exhanges. How is that so hard? Would take a one page law, not the monstrosity of perks, hidden fees, taxes, giveaways and conflicting information that the ACA is.

Who believe, or at least claim, that it was the best we could have gotten, and not what it actually was, what the leadership of both parties and the special interests who own them wanted. So long as we continue to believe in this nonsense, we are doomed to neoliberal hell.

to look beyond our current leaders.  We are watching the TP deal with the same problem by creating a civil war within the GOP that is costing the GOP seats in Congress.
We cannot afford a civil war in our ranks and recognize that but so do our leaders and they exploit it

is the issue important enough to us to take the risk and speak loudly and vociferously against this monstrosity while trying to get something else implemented or do we pick a different battle but no risk of damaging the whole.

The TP helped stage the biggest upset in US political history in generations in 2010. That it is now backfiring is due more to the insanity of its leaders and positions than to its insurgent strategy (which of course was astroturfed, yet another way in which a LW insurgency would differ from the TP movement).

We're not crazy (for the most part), and our positions actually make sense. We're just not politically effective--yet. Nor are we astroturfers. That was OFA and its staged progressive insurgency PR, which may have replaced the odious Bush regime but with one that is in many ways only marginally better--and in some ways worse. So I wouldn't count out an effective LW movement.

In fact I believe it's inevitable, or else we're doomed.

But even as it was, it only just barely passed.

to even talk about single payer, and since he tossed the public option under the bus without so much as a "oh, by the way," we will never know whether or not it was the best we could get.
