I have been known to sit on my ass when it comes time to get active for single payer. Yep, on my ass, with a bunch of other folks, doing a sit-in in the main lobby of a big insurance company. I had also volunteered to risk arrest while actively dialyzing on my dialysis machine, but since I got the transplant, that option is not something I can do, thank the Gods. I no longer need dialysis.

The reasons I wound up losing my kidney function in the first place and my insurance company's reaction (telling me I had to wait a year before they'd cover dialysis, which would have been guaranteed fatal) are big reasons why I'm a single payer/Medicare for all activist. So is the fact that I'm on Medicare.

Organ donors save lives! A donor's kidney gave me my life back on 02/18/11; he lives on in me. Please talk with your family about your wish to donate.

Why are war casualty counts "American troops" and "others" but never "human beings"?
