    Because he could have stayed on at Citi and got his bonus.  There wasn't a "Or we'll double your bonus if you go work in Government" clause or a "You only get this bonus if you come back to work for us once you leave the government" clause or a "We'll withold this bonus until we see how you act while in Govenment" clause.  

    Like I said down below - his first full time gig in Government was working in the State Department.  If this bonus was paid out because this was a "high level Government Position" than what would you say then?  Still cast dispersions at Lew?

    Keystone XL Pipeline - Canada gets the money, Asia gets the oil, America gets the toxic refinery pollution and potential for a pipeline leak ecological disaster.

      Many, many people take sacrifices of all kinds: financial, time with family, other interests, privacy, because working in government is something they consider an honor that exceeds all of these other rewards.

      Say what you will about him, but Mayor Bloomberg refuses to be paid the Mayoral salary on principle.

      Why should the financial guys, who make more than most other government appointees anyway, not demonstrate some commitment by leaving some of the trappings of private sector work behind?
