  •  That's why he's abandoned his own bill. (17+ / 0-)

I too didn't understand why he would make immigration reform the platform on which to distinguish himself. Then I thought...wait a minute...it looks to like the establishment is setting him up and using his heritage for their own purposes. Now that he's seen his bill get absolutely no momentum in the House or among the GOP grassroots, he's ready to abandon it by using the President as a foil. Even though the presidents bill and his bill are nearly identical.

It would appear that the Republicans are trying desperately to push Rubio into entering the 2016 fray simply so they can wrap themselves in the Rubio cloak after they've selected someone else as Presidential candidate.  They can always claim that they were encouraged by the great race he ran in the primaries but that he lost, fair and square, and should try again in the future.  They want to present the appearance of being more interested in the Hispanic community than actually doing anything for it.  For modern Republicans, it's always been about appearances rather than substance.  Why should anyone believe that this time is different?

...that is, unless he's indicted on corruption charges.

Republicans pushing Rubio as a 2016 contender appears to be a GOP PR stunt, and you've described exactly how they're doing it.

        •  I don't think so (0+ / 0-)

Most people haven't heard of Scott Walker outside of his own state.
You forget that we have an incredible bunch of Wisconsin bloggers here that keep us up to date.

          •  I probably know more about Walker... (0+ / 0-)

...than anyone else who is not from Wisconsin. I'm one of the few non-Wisconsinites that read Wisconsin-oriented progressive blogs on any sort frequent basis. Walker doesn't make too many appearances in the national media.

Trust me, I absolutely hate Scott Walker and everything he stands for.
