  •  I know at the United Methodist Church (9+ / 0-)

has a prison program. The details escape me, and it may not be operational in your area.

However, mollywog, you have obviously struck a nerve. Not as earthshattering as SwedishJewish's revelation, but there are obviously a lot of people who are in the same pain you are.

Perhaps some benefit can come of this exposure of a wound many people carry.

Thank you for your honesty and courage.

has been a long time in coming obviously.  I hope this helps those who are facing the same ordeal.  I know the leads and suggestions have made me feel more optimistic.  And to know I'm not alone is a huge deal.
Thank you for your kind words.

in prisons is terrible, that there is so much violence inside the prisons, and that the concept of prison time to help someone rehabilitate themselves is laughed at.

For  a short while there, there were attempts to help people make the prisons better. (Late3 1960's through the 19080's.) And every single institution that provided decent healthy food for the incarcerated found less violence, and overall well being for both the staff and the prisoners. These places are costing the tax payers so much, yet it doesn't seem like the Prison industry is spending any of the money on the food. Often the prisoners don't even have decent drinking water.

Anyway although your situation was a painful one to read about, I am grateful for your taking the time to share the experience. You will be in my prayers. (As well as your son and his family.)

Offer your heart some Joy every day of your life, and spread it along to others.
