the Vietnam vets, in the streets trying to stop the Iraq invasion, the sense of not accomplishing a damn thing is something I can relate to.

Going on 55 years of efforts in the civil rights movement can be just as discouraging. The news this weekend of the Flint MI area hospital that even had a note on an infants chart that AA NICU nurses were not to be assigned has just stunned my mother and I. Both nurses, both critical care. It's F***ING Illegal.

The country has changed. There has been no military draft for decades. We have much less free time, people work harder for less security than any time in 60 years. The turnout today, in the country we now are, is no small feat.

Like war and discrimination, the battles flare up and will continue to.

Unlike every other civil movement, this one trumps everything. We have some momentum and mass. It's a milestone we've not really had before.

More plans, more effort, more education, rallies. We need to keep the pressure on, reach the next milestone faster.  I've gotten to the point of looking at a different prize. Not just a world that is livable, but civilizations and nations that value it and human life as they should be.
