There were no facts that justified war to report.  That was the point that was obvious to anyone who is schooled in concepts like evidence, to anyone who knows anything about history, allies, intelligence, etc.  The people who needed to know, knew.  I could tell by the fact that the French so strongly opposed the war.  France is an ally.  France would not oppose a war if the US was really threatened or if western interests were really threatened.  That alone spoke volumes.  The French knew that we were full of shit.   The media reported on French opposition.   The media reported what you needed to know.

I believe Al Sharpton said at the time that he figured that if they had any proof they'd have showed us the pictures, referring I assume to the pictures the Kennedy administration showed to De Gaulle and to the UN when they had real facts and real evidence of WMD in Cuba.  There were no pictures to report.  That told me the same thing it told Al.

What the media needed was someone like Hillary Clinton or Bill Clinton or a few other Senators of stature to come straight out and tell the truth.  They did not.
