  •  We need to learn to recognize these (12+ / 0-)

instinct-driven people who rely on their gut to inform them about what to believe.

Faith-based government isn't about people committed to religious principles being in public service. No, it's about people who rely on belief and their gut instinct, rather than thinking and cognition to direct their actions.
Well, actually, they don't do a whole lot of acting. Mostly they instigate and get other people to act on their "decisions."  Dubya dubbed himself the "decider." That was accurate as far as it went. It was left to him to decide which of two alternatives were to be followed. That the alternatives had no basis in fact likely did not occur to him. Whatever his gut directed, that's where he went.

It would not surprise me to learn that most of these gut-driven people have digestive problems.

We organize governments to deliver services and prevent abuse.

I picked up this vhs tape at a flea market by John Stockwell, a former CIA case manager who talks about what happened in the 80's. His advice "be afraid when they say they have to do x because it is a matter of national security".
