    (and you have admit, it has some validity) is that representatives need to go back frequently to the home district to consult with constituents. So, having breaks to facilitate this is not really considered time off.

      What they need time off for is lobbyists who will ensure they stay in office.

      fundraisers rather than meeting with constituents.  I just looked up what calendars exist for my Rep and Senators and the Senators have meetings for Coloradans visiting Washington but there's nothing saying they're going to be going to a site in Colorado to meet with anyone.  Representative Degette's means of contact are to hold telephone town hall meetings.

      Ed Perlmutter is a Colorado Congressman who meets people at stores the way Gabby Giffords did, but he's not my district.

      district, unless it's in secret to see donors.

      Hell, when we had a Democratic rep--I live in MS--he wouldn't come around to see the people in this part of the district.

      He came once but sneaked in the back door because we were there to protest his Blue Doggishness.
