I live in PA6.  Jim Gerlach is my Rep.  He is a putz.  He keeps referring to the "Democrat Party."  I wish he would learn the difference between a noun (Democrat) and an adjective (Democratic).  No matter what I write, I get a canned response back.  His Congressional web page has a list of topics on a drop-down menu and I am convinced that his staff has but a single response for each of the topics which they occasionally update to keep somewhat current.  Gerlach is a Republican through-and-through, who lives in a reality-challenged little world.  I will give him this, though:  He voted for the income tax deal back in January.  I wrote him and told him that he did the right thing. For once.    Not even a "thanks" from his office, though.

fully part of the hive mentality that regurgitates talking points in a locked goose-stepping fashion.

it also tells you he will never hear reality-based discourse.

form response is the same in Georgia.  The wording of every damn reply only confirms no one actually reads any incoming mail.

    •  Call his office. (0+ / 0-)

It has much more impact than an email; I get form responses back from emails to my very progressive (but rather lazy) representative.

I'm not saying that your calls alone will change one as intransigent as Gerlach, but if enough of his constituents call about a particular issue, they might start getting nervous.  It does depend on your district's political profile, though, as to whether enough other folks will call him, too.
