  •  rape is defined as (0+ / 0-)

forced penetration against a person's will (or without one's consent).

    person being man or woman.
one caveat is what is in the parenthesis. Though the vaginal going to be against many women's "will" (it is also expensive--no one likes to get unnecessary medical tests and pay for them), they will have consented to them by reading an account of the procedure and signing a waiver.

However, it is VERY close to rape. Women will be (ARE in some states-TX, right?) forced to get them and have no choice because they want the abortion. They will be/are coeced into getting them.

    •  if you are FORCED to sign to get an abortion (0+ / 0-)

that does not mean it is not rape

      it IS rape

      •  I'm trying to suss it out.... you give consent (1+ / 0-)

you sign a consent form for the procedure including for the ultrasound.

If you consent to penetration they would argue it is not rape because of the consent.

hmm...but if consent is coerced might it still be rape? It might feel that way to some women. To others it might not...for example before an abortion the doctor does an internal vaginal exam. It is necessary and part of the procedurey you consent to...but the doctor does penetrate the woman with two fingers in order to feel her cervix/uterus. It is necessary for the procedure but it is a penetration that the woman has consented to.

I wonder what a lawyer would say. I'm very angry about this also just so you know. I worked in a clinic for many years.
