  •  None of which is necessarily disqualifying (15+ / 0-)

except that last one of course. Despite all the crap they've gotten away with they still do essential work and we couldn't have a modern economy without them. And a lot of the great reporting and analysis we've gotten about the crash has come from former Wall St. execs. I've worked for a bunch of these firms and they're not all BSD assholes. But she's a shill, I agree. She's also not that bright, except in a very limited sense (you don't get hired by GS unless you have great analytic and math ability). But she has no insight. Or empathy.

    •  Oh come on (0+ / 0-)

In my book, she can be judged by her gig right out of college which was to work for America's Vampire, Goldman Sachs.  Nuff said

      •  My first job out of college was for a Wall St firm (0+ / 0-)

Admittedly, it was in IT, not the glamorous front office where the big bucks are, and because I needed a job, not out of any special interest in the field. But financial firms do necessary and essential work that needs to continue. E.g. public finance, startup financing, green energy, mortgages, etc. It's the trading side that's mostly unproductive and way out of control and needs to be reined in. Given her track record at CNN I'm guessing that she didn't go into finance for public service, but going into finance in itself doesn't make one an asshole.

    •  Nowadays (0+ / 0-)

I don't think the financial sector has any interest in preserving or improving the modern economy. The global economy is their chickenyard, and they're the foxes. If they kill all the chickens....well, seems like they never contemplate that reality. I guess they think there will always be another chickenyard.

      •  You're referring to the TBTF banks (0+ / 0-)

On which you're probably mostly right. But there are smaller firms that still do good work, like in green energy. We still need them and need to move banking towards what they do, and away from the squid vampires.
