into their coverage and offering perspective on the integration, but they have dropped themselves so far down the rabbit hole now, I doubt they have the capability left.  From what we see of CNN in the U.S., they don't have a staff that could think - much less write and deliver - anything so in-depth.

It would be interesting, for instance, to get the Mideast and European perspective on what's happening in Syria beyond an an occasional headline or Rand Paul's question to Hillary Clinton on whether the CIA is involved in shipping weapons to Syria through Turkey.  No decent coverage leaves the U.S. public vulnerable to outrage and propaganda ginned up to lead to our involvement in another  war.

Oh man, ain't that the truth.  The only segment of American society that disappoints me more than the hapless republicans is the American media.

There is absofreakinglutely NO excuse for the poor state of reporting in this country, never has so much access to information been so easy.

We are looking at a cynical and lazy press corps in this country for the most part, folks who betray us all with their willingness to parrot each other, instead of doing the work that tells us more of the truth. They glom onto a meme and sail with it. Very few dig beneath the surface of talking points.

Some think it's the "corporate media" and I'm sure they've got a point.  But I think a very large part of it is sheer laziness, and the proven ability to get by with very little effort expected.

My God, can't tell you how many times I've seen major MSNBC
anchors---Chuck Todd I'm looking at you---spew out falsehoods
that anyone on this site could point out and prove. And we aren't making his salary.

No, we're juggling everything else in life AND reading enough to know better than what most "news people" tell us.

(my best Paul Newman).....great comment and spot on....as I spent 16 years in the business...I can atttest first hand that what you say is the truth...and that was just on the local level....I never made it to the national level....I just didn't kiss enough ass, or was lazy enough

in Street Car Named Desire.  "Stellaaaaaaaa!"

Somehow we all think journalists should be above average, more than what we demand out of other professions.  But truth is, they just aren't, and like most professions, only very few are excellent, a handful more are very good, a bucket full more are good enough.  I can live with that.

What pisses me off is news people who are being paid very well, and given a huge platform and who piss that away with lazy parroting of bite size memes that repeat themselves over and over again, despite the PLETHORA of evidence that the meme is wrong.

There are many examples of this, like say, "both sides do it," over and over again, when that is simply not true when you look at the preponderance of evidence.

SIGH. The outrage can take you over if you let it. Good to let it go and get cozy with a good book in fresh sheets.  Which is what I'm going to do now.  Thank God for life's small joys.
