  •  The implication is that many couldn't afford it, (1+ / 0-)

thus they would effectively be prevented from owning a gun.  Poor single mothers living in crime-ridden South Central Los Angeles immediately come to mind, as do others in similar situations.  They can't afford to move or live anywhere safer, and now they're supposed to live lives of total vulnerability too?

    •  How many poor single mothers anywhere (0+ / 0-)

      own a handgun for protection?
If they do own, where are they going to get the time, money to buy the practice ammunition and time on a range?

    •  Cry us a river, po' folk cain't have no guns! (0+ / 0-)

You and your cohorts get more amusingly ridiculous with each new post. Kos could replace his hate mail posts with these, they're funnier.

every gun owner was required to have insurance, then yes, the poor would effectively be banned from owning a gun and thus would be forced to live their lives vulnerable to crime and attack.  You apparently would have no problem if the poor were all robbed or killed or whatever.  So please tell us, what the hell is so funny?  Is that your secret wish, that all the poor are killed off?  Lovely.

    •  Just the cost of a gun (4+ / 0-)

alone prevents the poor single mother in South Central from purchasing one.  I am sure she doesn't usually have an extra hundred lying around for a cheap handgun.  I am positive she doesn't have the $800 to a $1000 for a semi-automatic rifle.  But that portion of the COST of exercising her 'right' is never mentioned when this argument comes up.
