think but am not sure if my sister spoke of a nursing home in case Tony was tossed out of the hospital.

gosh I wish I did not have to think like this, but I would have to say that my sister would rather have Tony taken to her home where she could tend to him as best as she could.

Now that is only me thinking how my sister is. Maybe after I talk with her later tonight and show her all advice comments I have for her, she will feel more at easy. I know she is going through hell at this very moment as she sit there looking at her son hooked up to a ventilator.

No one wants to be in a nursing home, or wants to put someone in a nursing home, but there comes a time when it really is the best thing for everyone concerned.  For what it is worth, I wrote a series of essays, Caveats for Caretakers, describing some of the problems I encountered when it was necessary to put my mother in one.  The link is to the first essay.

If that option is not pursued, I know that the government is trying to make it possible for people to stay in their homes.  Medicaid will pay for nurses and caregivers to come to your sister’s home.

have specific reason to understand what you mean "that no one wants to be in a nursing home".

My older brother Joe died this past May. I wrote a lengthy diary in his memory. He was almost 80 at time of death but at the hospital he fought against going to a nursing home, choosing instead to be taken home to his wife and family.

Being home he relapsed and returned to the hospital only to die two days later. Although my brother was on Social Security at the time, it did him no good. As I understood his situation at after returning home from the hospital, his health required the hospital.

So yeah, personally I would also fight to my last breath against going to a nursing home. With so much negative media concerning inadequate health care in those places I think that is one reason no one wants to go there.
