  •  You don't think it should be the standard (7+ / 0-)

burden on our citizenry and teachers to kill people on command of the Gun lobby?

What a beautiful society. Institutionalized vigilantism. We are all Charles Bronson in a dystopian nightmare.  Because Constitution.

It's my right to protect myself - in the United States, we have many options including firearms.

I don't think anyone should be required to carry wepons other than police and military.

Arming teachers isn't the answer - however, in our United States - we protect our elected officials with security and in many cases armed security (ie Secret Service).  Many retail stores, Malls are required to have armed police presence.

Schools are a "soft" target.  They are "gun free" zones - as they should be however, criminals, especially psychotic criminals view this as an easy target where lots of unarmed people are.  Adam Lanza picked his target carefully.

I don't have a problem with pepper sprays  / mace for teachers - it is highly effective and if it was present, while it would not have stopped Adam Lanza - I'd be willing to bet, it would have reduced the number of people who were killed - now, it may be as simple as if the killer knows this, they just get a mask - maybe so - an argument could be made to have police at schools but arming teachers?  I'm not for that.

The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only legitimate object of good government. - Thomas Jefferson
