  •  locally, I've read multiple stories every year for (5+ / 0-)

    over fifty years of people (often even the one pulling the trigger) being shot by "unloaded" guns. Amazing how that happens. And happens. And happens.

    There can be no protection locally if we're content to ignore the fact that there are no controls globally.

      People buy a gun and don't bother cleaning it until it jams.

      Then they don't how to clear a jam.

      And because they never cleaned the gun, or not in a long time, the forget to keep the open end pointed away from themselves.

      It's like a person who smokes in the car and doesn't bother cleaning the ashtray, ever.

      Responsible gun owners clean their firearm after every time they shoot it, even if they only fired a single shot.
