    by Shulamith Firestone.  I picked a copy of this up off the couch of my townhouse one day in my junior year of college; it belonged to one of my housemates, who was studying something more controversial than my own major in comparative religion.

    It was the only other place I'd ever even encountered some of the ideas that were floating around inside my own head, let alone the first time reading them.  She tied together so many disparate things, giving me a glimpse of a kind of order I wouldn't have thought could exist.

    I read about a chapter of it, then gave the book back to my housemate and thought about it for the next thirty or so years.
