    are total BS. Any changes to SS are just a precursor to the dismantling of Social Security. If one looks at the Federal Budget you will not find any mention of SS, as it is not part of the Budget! Social Security is a separate, fully funded program, financed by the payroll tax(FICA) and it does not add one penny to the deficit or the debt. SS can pay out full benefits at least thru 2035 and presently has a $1.7 trillion surplus. Any future shortfalls can be easily solved by lifting the cap on taxable income or better yet remove the cap and increase benefits. This issue begs the question; why does the richest country in the world, the U.S., have the stingiest retirement benefits amongst the industrialized nations?
