    Is totally legally accurate, but I think that's why the eight-state holding won't happen.  Coupled with striking down DOMA, there'd be some national uniformity (married people are married everywhere), but not enough on a crucial issue like this.  SCOTUS doesn't want to hear that future litigation, I promise you, it'd be a constant calamity.  Esp. since states' arguments would be so similar, over and over again, there are major problems with a thin holding.
