  •  The death of a parent is a milestone, no matter... (9+ / 0-)

...what the relationship was like. Take good care of yourself in the weeks and months ahead.

I am reminded of the memorial for a neighbor, a woman beloved by all the families on our block for her kindness and generosity.

Her service was turned over to a young grand-nephew, who was a "lay pastor" in some evangelical church somewhere in another state. He basically hijacked the service to proselytize for Jesus and troll for new converts.

No one was permitted to share memories of this lady and who she was... it was very disappointing. I was tempted to blame her husband for allowing this opportunity to honor her memory to be wasted... but the man was grieving - and perhaps as surprised by "the pastor's" dizgusting performance as I was.

What's done is done. But do honor your mother privately and in your own way. Perhaps writing is a good mode of expression for you. A memoir project is something you can collaborate on with your father and brother when the time is right.

    Peace be upon you.

    Have you noticed?
    Politicians who promise LESS government
    only deliver BAD government.
