for the warm welcome :) I'll do my best to behave civilly during my stay. I do realize that I'm new to this particular corner of debates, so let me know if I'm out of line.

willing to engage without trying to create division is welcomed here.  input from many sources - some good, some better - makes ALL of us richer.

and, btw, trust me when i say that the entire site will let you know if you are "out of line" - the easiest way to avoid that is when you are in a controversial topic, back up  your opinion with facts from multiple sources - and, stick to facts.  ad homs and personal attacks will get you (and anyone else who consistently does that) hidden (hr - hide rated) into oblivion!

that said, welcome to the GOS (great orange satan)!

a "trusted user" (enough community rec's on your comments), you wouldn't see a "hidden" post (or hide-rated one).  it would seem to just disappear - that is so it is taken off the public view, but the community can still see he comment.

comments are hidden for ad homs, threats, over-the-top behavior (which kos describes as "being a dick in someone's diary) trying to deliberately start fights or provoke fights, revealing someone's actual identity (that will get you thrown off the site immediately) and more.

the best way to get comfortable around here is read alot - watch when peole get into heated discussions and see how they interact.

the best way to join in one of those is to keep your arguent to the facts, not the poster EVEN if you are insulted by someone) and if it is a circular argument, simply agree to disagree and walk away to argue another day!

enjoy - and see ya around the debates!
