  •  I was a dirt poor student (0+ / 0-)

But I did follow jazz, mostly around Columbia but also in the Village.  Post-college I went to a lot of theater Off-Broadway mostly McNally,  Shepard, Henley, Durang, Fugard etc,  I attended a lot of dance performances as well but they were modern and avant garde dance companies (Pina Bausch, Merce Cunningham, Twyla Tharp, Lucinda Childs, Karole Armitage, Mark Morris).

I was a downtown girl.  I went to the Mudd Club and CBs regularly and live in Chelsea, then the West Village, then off to LIC when it was very edgy.

My boss went to the Metropolitan Opera and got me to go on a couple of occasions but I never fell in love with it like he did.

I don't even know where Chip's Pub was.  I did hang out at Gough's on occasion since I had friends at the NY Times and it was just across the street.

In the 80s I worked at 50th and Broadway in the Paramount Plaza building. Coworkers and I would often go to a Mexican restaurant (can't recall the name) on 8th Avenue in the 50s after work for dinner and we'd regularly see Chuck Scarborough and Sue Simmons dining together. They always had their margaritas.
