of my acquaintance told a group of us that it was "the most people I've ever seen in Albany at one time". That was pretty upsetting to me; I can't imagine what it was like for her.

    •  they may be loud...but they are in the minority... (6+ / 0-)

we had zoning approved for a gun shop without a public hearing...just a little town...gun nuts came from allover CA to speak at the meeting...and like I said...the meeting was to be about not allowing the public a chance to speak before approving...lack of public notice...etc...I guess they don't care about those rights.

      what a bunch of fanatics.

one, what happened in your town after the zoning variance was approved? Did the local citizens rise up to object?

and two, what will happen in Albany, NY after this rally? Will we citizens of NY show up in much larger numbers (there were 5000 people at that rally) to support the new gun safety law?

It's much easier to get people to take action about something they're angry about than something they support. Even though a vast majority of the state supports the new law, it would take some serious organizing to get a larger crowd up to Albany to show it. Especially since gun safety advocates currently have nothing like the NRA's organizing muscle or money.
