  •  Actually, the sequester (5+ / 0-)

didn't go far enough. The MIC [Military-Industrial Complex] should have been pared to pre-2001 levels immediately, social and infrastructure spending increased accordingly, and SS/Medicare should be made fully available at age 55 so more entry-level jobs open to recent grads as middle-agers move on up. Massive government investment in infrastructure, heavy on the energy end with renewables and grid replacement would put the nation back to work. Tax revenues go up, full employment brings rising wages, major Recession/Depression goes away. Oh... and tax the rich enough to establish a reasonable maximum wage in this country. If the Masters of the Universe don't like it, let them move to China along with their money.

The APA give-away to the health insurance industry should start getting revamped immediately by the lowered age for Medicare to introduce "Medicare for All" buy-ins as the so-called Public Option. Roll Medicaid into that and pretty soon you've got universal cradle-to-grave medical care like every other civilized nation on the planet. For the public option attach drug price controls and who knows? The ever-rising (at two or three times inflation) cost of medical care stops ever-rising.

Hell, we might end up with an honest representative democracy that really is swell to live in at the end of the day.
