Hello, I am the farmer in your story that you originally posted a week ago. Although I appreciate your support of the raw milk issues here in Illinois I must point out areas of misinformation. When I was contacted by the Illinois Department of Public Health and asked to be on the Steering Committee for Raw Milk I happily agreed.

The first mtg I attended was a conference call and thus there was nothing given to me, or any of the other committee menbers, to sign. Instead there were two pages sent to me via email of PROPOSED RULE CHANGES to review. The font size was at least 10. It was not a "legal document" and they were not seeking my consent, just my opinion which I freely gave. My husband and I sell raw milk (from our small certified organic cow dairy) direct to the consumer who comes to our Central Illinois Farm.

I was indeed oppoed to most of the proposed changes. In addition IDPH has not organized a meeting with Illinois raw milk farmers, I am the one who has done that and since we have not met yet, there's no telling how many of the prospode rules we, the farmers, may or may not agree with.

Finally the May 1st mtg of the Raw Milk Steering Committee oganized by IDPH is indeed an open mtg but will be in Bloomington, not Springfield. Accurate information can be found on my blog and with your permission I will post that here. Raw milk farmers and concerned consumers are very welcome to contact me. Thanks so much Mr Monniker for caring about raw milk and its benefits.  Donna OShaughnessy  www.midlifefarmwife.blogspot.com
