    •  Eva Peron was a gold-digger (0+ / 0-)

and a self-centered, self-promoting opportunist.  She was no more a "champion of the working class" than George W. Bush was the "education President".

They bankrupted a rich and prosperous nation.  After their years in power, Argentina has never fully recovered.  They "got the English out", and along with them, they got the prosperity out too.

"...Would you like to try a college education?  Own your Landlord's house?  Take the family on vacation?  Eva and her blessed fund will make your dreams come true.  Here's all you have to do, my friend...

Write your name and your dream on a card or a pad or a ticket.  Throw it high in the air, and should Our Lady pick it.  She will change your way of life, for a week or even two.  Name me anyone who cares as much as Eva Peron?"

Good lord!  Evita was a champion of working people and women's rights, particularly women's suffrage.  In her time period she was one of the most progressive political figures in the Americas.
