    was just about the best going back then.  Not only the brilliant toaster that you have (I assume it's the one where the bread slots are placed across instead of along the length of the device), but their stand-alone mixer was another design winner.  Google-image 1950s Sunbeam Mixmaster to have a look.  Then there was the almost indestructible electric skillet, which was my mother's tool-of-choice for fried chicken.  As for today's Sunbeam products, I'm not happy with the new designs.  Somehow, they just don't have the same solid, dependable, and (nearly) indestructible look to them.  That said, I do note, after having read product descriptions of current models, that they're still actually using real metal instead of yet more plastic.
