  •  Solar and electric vehicles are synergistic (0+ / 0-)

I have both. We went solar a few months after buying the EV. More than half the people in our local Nissan Leaf owners club have solar arrays.

Technically, my car is not solar-powered because I am on a Time of Use plan, where electricity at low-demand times are cheapest rates. So I charge the EV after midnight (9 cents a kWh), while the Solar panels put out energy when energy is most expensive. During the summer, they create more power than I need, so the utility buys it back (net metering, 24 cents a kwh) and my electric meter literally runs negative.

I've often said EVs are a gateway drug to solar power, but most people in the club did it the other way round!
