    First, because Silicon valley and the other tech centers are only a small fraction of IT in the real world. The fact is that virtually every organization of any kind in the US with at least 50 employees has an IT department. And only those located in urban centers, and downtown districts are populated primarily by young liberal engineers.

    The vast majority are are not, and in many cases they largely populated by mature and often very right wing and libertarian people in their IT departments. I can't tell you how much right wing garbage I've had to endure listening to the conversations in neighboring cubes in nearly every shop I've worked in over the past 30+ years I've been working in IT.

    Maybe liberals just keep their mouths shut, or maybe right wingers are just natural loudmouths, but whichever it is, I can assure you there is no shortage or right wing tech talent out here.
