    And that those who earn a nice living--like me--got a headstart from a solid middle class upbringing, and a great public high school, and an awesomely cheap CA law school.  I don't bitch about paying it back, nor flatter myself that my little success proves my inherent superiority.

      Undergrad tuition to a good state university in NY was either $400 or $800 in the sixties.

      Only child of middle class parents--Catholic schools instead of public,  Because I was an only,  there were nos cholarships for undergrad though my grades were good enough to get me into an Ivy League--chose a different school.  Then grad school for 2 master's: scholarship for one,, Dad paifd for the second because he siad if I graduated with honors, he'd pay for grad school.  Got into law school but didn't go. SHopuld have.

      The last time we mixed religion and politics people got burned at the stake.
