But pressure is growing on trying to push the leislature, and him, to rethink his position. From my paper today:

Some leading Republican lawmakers, while they dislike the federal health law’s call for states to expand Medicaid, would push harder for a deal to bring home some of the billions offered if they didn’t fear Gov. Rick Perry would undercut them.

The above article has some nice graphics on what states are on -board with it, who is opposed, and who is still thinking; as well as info on how many people would be affected. It also includes this discouraging note:

Key legislators say President Barack Obama’s administration is so eager to bring health care coverage to some of Texas’ 6.1 million uninsured residents that it might make concessions to the state. For example, it might let Texas charge hefty co-payments on adults who would be eligible for Medicaid under the federal law. Or, instead of placing them in Medicaid, it might give them subsidies to buy private plans.
Meanwhile, this article (also today) goes into detail on the economic impact. the embedded video also has some good slides on the dollar value of jobs, ripple effect on retail sales, etc.
Perryman said the Medicaid dollars would boost growth, reduce costs for uncompensated care and insurance, and enhance productivity. With those outcomes and the multiplier effects, Texas would get $1.29 in revenue for every $1 that it spends, he projects.
