    He made a series of choices. Yes, you were a factor he considered when he made some of those choices. But HE made the choices. For you to feel guilty when the sum effect of HIS choices is poor is a bit arrogant. It treats him as a child.

    Feeling sympathy, compassion, empathy, pity ... any of those grants him the respect of seeing him as a human and an adult. To feel guilty is to steal his autonomy.
