  •  Who would legitimately feel threatened by a youth (2+ / 0-)

with a cell phone in one hand, and soft-drink & snack in the other?

Fiscal conservative: a Republican ready to spend $5 to save a dime--especially if that dime is helping a non-donor.

...after being followed and confronted by a non-cop carrying a gun while he was unarmed and legally entitled to be where he was and doing nothing wrong...

        •  Standing your ground against someone (4+ / 0-)

          that isn't doing anything illegal?

          Nope.

          •  Did Zimmerman have any legal authority to... (0+ / 0-)

            ...confront Martin?

            •  If Martin first spoke to or touched Zimmerman, ... (0+ / 0-)

              Martin initiated the "confrontation".

              •  Who stalked who in there? (0+ / 0-)

If I stalk you, but neither touch you nor talk to you, tell me that you will do NOTHING...

So now talking to someone means initiating the confrontation?

While this is quite a stupid concept, lets say for a second that you are right: So how do you know Zimmerman didn't talk first to Martin asking him what he was doing there?

we don't know.  At least, I haven't heard (yet) any witness testimony which speaks directly to that issue other than "DeeDee", and now it turns out that she has credibility issues.

...and you say 'stop following me' loudly that is starting a confrontation and allows them to shoot you.  I think not.

wouldn't give another the right to shoot anyone, but charging at them or punching them would, theoretically, if they could demonstrate that they felt their life was in danger.

Besides, the evidence shows that Zimmerman was on the ground when he fired, so any question of being yelled at while standing up is irrelevant.

...the moment he left his vehicle contrary to the instructions of the 991 operator.  If he is knocked down by someone defending themselves from an attacker and then shoots them tat does not make him the victim just an attacker that got knocked down and resorted to using a gun to win the fight.

                    •  911 operators don't issue "instructions" ... (0+ / 0-)

which amount to orders that must be obeyed.  Citizens are free to follow their advice, but may do anything they wish as long as it doesn't involve breaking a law.  In fact, the operator didn't even issue an instruction, she merely said "we don't need you to do that" (i.e., track Martin).  She did not ask Zimmerman to remain in his vehicle, or anything of that nature.

Further, there is NO evidence Zimmerman "attacked" Martin.  There is considerable evidence, however, that Martin attacked Zimmerman ... evidently following an ambush.

Let's wait until we see what evidence is actually introduced in court, and how the jury interprets it, since neither your opinion nor mine matters not one whit.  The jury will render a verdict, and that will be that.

...Zimmermann if you like.  It just cements my view of you.  I would rather not support a gun toting racist that stalked and killed an unarmed child.
