    In ours:

President: fully justified outrageous and angry statement

Media Story:  Pre-story mix of Republicans and pundits painting Obama as a socialist dictator with cut and paste of previous speeches and gaffs followed by his extremely edited speech finding phrases and angry glares lending credence to their forgone conclusions followed by in depth analysis by Republican pundits (with possibly some very weak and accommodating liberal that gets talked over).  In the end the public sees an angry frustrated President still surrounded by gridlock because the Republicans still have the numbers to block him.

The only place you'll see the full unedited version is on CSpan or NPR which the vast majority of the voting public don't even know exists.

The bully pulpit has been weakened considerably in the past few decades.  Think about the Barack Obama the right wing media is trying to sell and consider for a moment the one weapon he has to wipe out that image.  In my mind that's what he's doing.  He's destroying their propaganda by not being the scary socialist dictator they try to show.  He's starving them of sound bites.  He's being accommodating and compromising, reaching out.

Problem is the right knows he's doing that and their tactic now is to come into places like this and all the social media and stir up the left wing anger at the tactic. It's obviously working.  We've seen the fired up Barack Obama you want but think about where you saw it.  Not on nightly CNN.  Certainly not on regular Fox broadcasts, not daily press briefings.  No, where you've seen it is either on places without large viewer totals OR you've seen it at national events that couldn't be cut and pasted, convention speeches, debates, after national tragedies.  He's picked and chosen his battles wisely in my eyes.

WE ARE NOT HIS AUDIENCE.  We're just a tiny bit of it.  The large part is subject to huge propaganda and uneducated politically, historically, the folks without time to hang on blog sites like this one.

    •  Enjoy your corporate overlords. (0+ / 0-)

That 'he can't because they'll pick on him' is defeatist bullshit.

If you are right, it's over - entirely, done deal.

It is OBVIOUS that Republicans are saboteurs and sponsored by corporate.

The only thing missing is the voice and values to rally behind.

      •  No it's not defeatist bullshit (0+ / 0-)

What's defeatist bullshit is this vast implication that he and the Democrats are selling us out.   What the hell does that attitude get us but Republican rule?

I'm hearing that voice you're calling for but it's not designed for you.  It can't be.  If you're responding to posts on DailyKos you are not the target audience.  I'm not that audience either.  It has to be the millions of Americans that never visit a site like this, that only trade pictures of their puppies on Facebook, that get their news from CNN, ABC, Fox - corporate-owed media conglomerates.  Talk to anyone that falls into that group and they're going to have zero idea what the hell you're ranting about.

        •  I wasn't talking about Obama. (0+ / 0-)

Although I used that quote as an illustration of failed messaging and a failure to properly diagnose and treat the problem, it's not just him.

NOBODY has called them saboteurs, and they've been systematically and ruthlessly sabotaging our country for years, the last 5 years it's been completely naked. There's a highly publicized paper trail. The problem is that the "serious people" in politics hide that paper trail because they are afraid of what Republicans and corporate sponsors will say, at least that's their excuse.

People know that the Republicans 'took hostages' but they don't know why. They think it's to reduce taxes, something that the Democrats bend over backwards to reinforce. It's not to reduce taxes. It's to shrink and destroy government.

30 years of failed conservative policies and nobody on the Democratic side of the aisle, nobody 'serious' will call them out on it.

Failed conservative policies have broken America and that was a feature, not a bug.
