We recently had incredible hype for a winter storm (they even named it!!), in the end it was just a couple inches or so. I wonder if people are going to start ignoring the warnings after this.

As for local variations, the past few summers I've noticed rain patterns wildly different every mile or so. Or was it always like this and I never noticed?? People report in their rain totals at the post office, so when I go in they ask me what I got (we all measure our rainfall in hundredths of an inch, probably you do in Okla. too). I'll learn that south of town they got 3 inches, I (five miles away) got 30 hundredths and a half-mile north east of me a guy got an inch and a half. This seems odd to me...

I love it that Obama's channeling Harry Truman: "I don't give 'em hell; I just tell the truth and they think it's hell!"
