  •  Oh please, everyone in the RKBA is fed up with (8+ / 0-)

kids getting shot. They disagree, at a very fundemental level, about how to make the situation better. But do not say they don't care about gun deaths of children or anyone else for that matter. For example, ending the war on drugs would have a major impact on the number of gun deaths in this country. And, given the entrenched position of the NRA, might be just as likely to be achieved. But beyond the gun deaths ending the drug war would other advantages as well. Perhaps spending more effort on that would be the right approach. I'll never own a gun. Ever. But please stop demonizing fellow Democrats and progressives because you don't agree with them on this one topic.

You can't assassinate the character of any of modern conservative. You'd have to find where it was buried, dig it up, resurrect it, then kill it. And killing a zombie isn't really assassination, is it?

from what I can see, they just don't accept the reality of it at all. Nobody here thinks any of them are murderers or cheerleaders of death. We just think they're morally desensitized people who have a poor grasp on statistical analysis and are far too invested in the concept of gun ownership as a core part of their personal identity.

And the funny RKBA habit of trying to dictate when others here can critcise them is sort of sad.

And don't lump me in with the "don't try it 'cause it won't work" crowd. Personally I think we should put the effort in to increase background checks. It seems like a good idea. But there is going to be political cost there is no denying that.

I suggest you read this article:

Critics of gun laws have said that gun laws don’t work, but our research indicates the opposite,” said study leader Dr. Eric Fleegler, a pediatric emergency medicine physician at Boston Children’s Hospital. “In states with the most laws, we found a dramatic decreased rate in firearm fatalities, though we can’t say for certain that these laws have led to fewer deaths.”
The new study found that states with the most laws had a 37 percent lower rate of suicides by firearm and a 40 percent lower rate of homicides compared with states with the fewest laws.
