    While I happen to think there is a "Gay culture", I'm also not radical enough to chide my friends for being too "heteronormative" because if I were, I wouldn't have those friends for long.

    As the LGBT community continues those "later stages" of assimilation, queer theory will become more important than the queer culture it tries to explain and queer history will become increasingly a history of culture as well as events. Some things, like that piano bar, are already thought of as history today (though I went to one regularly in my 20's--regularly enough that I ran a monthly tab there, which is another thing that is part of history).
