    •  ps, did you see the fascinating news story (5+ / 0-)

yesterday of the alitalia airline coming into ny - the pilot spotted a drone at 1500 ft and notified the tower who then warned other pilots.  seems that if that thing accidentally hit a large jet, it could bring it down.

oh, and then the reporters went to a specialty store and BOUGHT a drone for $700 - seems they aren't illegal - made to fly up to 1000 ft (even though they are legally only allowed up to 400 ft).

all this hyperventilating about drones and no one bothers to check that you or i could go buy one legally right now.

they are used in filmmaking, for fun, for building inspection, for commercial reasons - yet all we here around here is the panicked cry of DRONNNNNNNEZ!

that news cast was an eye opener - the drones that the police will purchase are not the military rocket bearing kind - they will most likely be the camera carrying kind - not unlike the robots used today.

i sometimes think that some people would prefer living in caves and striking two rocks together for fire rather than looking at how technology can make our lives better (or how to prevent it from making it worse, in some cases). i am more afraid of the the drone in the hands of a peeping tom than i am for one in the hands of the government.

frankly, i think my town could use a drone with a camera to find those who blatantly disregard the safety of all of us by firing their weapons into the air.  what goes up must come down - that applies to bullets as well as drones!

what passes for outrage here at times would boggle the mind. But just as the Right is afflicted with Obama Derangement Syndrome, many on the left are too....

This was taken the other day by someone in my neighborhood. I saw it on another neighbors FB page.

off to the right, but that's my neighborhood. I actually think this was taken from behind my house, in the corn field. If they'd just turned about 90 degrees, they'd be looking in my bedroom window.

If my neighbors can be creepin and peepin in my windows, I'm not that concerned with the rest.
