  •  I think the party can use some fresh blood. (8+ / 0-)

Obviously some of the old guard no longer has the fight in them that is required to take on the present day Republicans.

I've never been to Michigan, but I have to think this seat is winnable for s Democrat.

    •  Hope for best, but expect a Blue Dog (0+ / 0-)

The high cost of campaigning makes that a virtual certainty.

Watch for my homie Mike Honda to be shuffled off next.

    •  100% agree he was THE leader in watering (8+ / 0-)

down filibuster reform. Now that he realizes it was all a pipedream, I knew he would retire. He wants the old Senate and doesn't want to get into the tough dirty fighting that will be required to make the Senate function again.

I love his voting record (on trade, taxes, union rights, judges, etc) I'm very greatful for his years of service. I don't want to seem like I'm dismissing that, or "knocking him". In fact I voted for him when I lived in Michigan. But we need more Senators that can take on the Tea Party types that are going to continue to move from the House into the Senate. I don't think he has the right temperment for that task.

But I would lik eto say thank you for your service Mr. Levin enjoy the retirement you so richly deserve.

    •  But Levin is full of fight (0+ / 0-)

Obviously he is feeling his years but his statement suggests he will continue to go all-in for the remainder of his term.

      What about my Daughter's future?
