  •  we do not have drones attacking people here (0+ / 0-)

in america (as some wildly seem to fear).  that obsession is just as ludicrous as "they're coming to take our guns" proclamations - both not based in reality or fact.

i can understand people in afghanistan to be concerned - and if i were an al qaeda operative, i'd be very nervous about wandering about anywhere in the world - especially the middle east where there are known al qaeda groups gathering.

when i was much younger - the cia "sanctioned" certain threats to this nation - was it wrong?  frankly, i did not have the information to make that judgment.

would i have wanted the hijackers sanctioned before 9/11?  i would have preferred them arrested, but if it were absolutely beyond refute what they were about to do - then, i'd have a hard time saying no.

how about you?  if you knew for certain that these men were on their way to blow up the trade center and pentagon and aim for the white house, what would you have done?

would you have shot tim mcveigh or terry nichols to stop that bomb from going off?

these are questions that deserve answers from those who express outrage over drones.

i honestly don't know - but i think i might just might have pulled the trigger... if i knew for certain what was about to happen and there was no other way to stop the event from happening.  how about you?

    •  Many things that had been considered unthinkable (0+ / 0-)

suddenly became not only thinkable, but policy, during the Bush Administration, and some of them the Obama Administration has not backed away from.  If they think that this obviously (to you and me) unconstitutional act would be unconstitutional, great.  They should be willing to explain why.  The public has earned its right to want reassurance about U.S. government overreach in the area of national security.  A one-word answer without explanation is not sufficiently reassuring.
