    1. no, you don't roughly remove an 82 year old woman in this manner, no matter how annoying she is. I really don't give two flying motherfucks if other passengers were annoyed. Grow the entire fuck up. I hope she and hers sue. I'll donate to her legal fund.

There's a way to do this. This "police officer" did it the wrong way. HE is in the wrong. HE is. ENTIRELY him.

    2. yes, people are snots on transit. Been riding my entire life on transit (the ones who get my gourd now are the ones who think their seat is their assigned seat. Oh, hell no.) Snotty people on my bus are why I invested in a good pair of headphones. 15 dollars at an Old Navy Clearance sale. They cancel out most of those catty snotrags. I love it.

    3. I haven't been down to Miami in some time (a large portion of my family is from there and has been there since the city was founded) but there have been long tensions between the black community and the cuban community for a long time. Whether that played in here, I really don't know. Commentary on the ethnicity of the victim (yes, she's a victim, here) is not inappropriate.

    •  how about the seat next to them, too? (3+ / 0-)

i remember seeing a guy not remove his stuff from the seat next to him. the train got more and more full.

he had dozens of opportunities to remove his things and have a rider of typical mass and adequate personal grooming take the seat next to him.

finally a conductor asked the man to remove his belongings, and an enormous man who was in need of a shower sat down.

the whole thing made me so happy. i went from being annoyed by the guy to being thrilled w/ happened.
